Moon Over Temple

People are busy in the streets outside one of the largest temples in Bali as the moon rises during a full moon ceremony.
Rice Hut

Ubud

Rice fields end only when met by forests of palm trees. This small hut is alone for miles.

Carved Door

Ananda Cottages, Ubud

This intricately hand carved and painted door led into our room at the Ananda Cottages.

This lock was mostly unnecessary as the windows had no panes, and the room was in the woods.

Feeding the Little Ones

Sacred Monkey Forrest, Ubud

A few dozen monkeys live in this forrest that houses two famous Balinese temples.

Vendors outside sell traditional Balinese dress for visitors and bananas for the monkeys.

Waiting

Inside the temple during the full moon ceremony, people happily wait for dancers and other performers as the sun sets on the horizon.
Beautiful Blue

Young women dressed in beautiful and blindingly colorful outfits bring offerings to the temple.

The streets outside temples are always full of people bringing such gifts.

Skirted Statue

Pura Besakih, Gunung Agung

Even the statues get dressed up for important religious events in Bali.

The extreme age of this temple, Pura Besakih - The largest in Bali, can be seen in the features of this character.

Dinner Band

Cafe Lotus, Ubud

This band was nice enough to be playing outside a temple while we ate dinner at this famous restaurant.

Visitors

Pura Besakih, Gunung Agung

Visitors from all over the world joined us at the largest temple in Bali.

Crossing

Raya Ubud, Ubud

This huge bridge crosses a deep gorge running through the heart of Ubud.
